Interlocked Squares

Square Dance Club

Sunnyvale, California

Our regular dance location starting February 2022 is Murphy Park in Sunnyvale. When that location is unavailable, we may occasionally dance at other locations. Check the calendar for more information.

Murphy Park

250 N. Sunnyvale Avenue, Sunnyvale [GOOGLE]

Note: The official address is on Sunnyvale Avenue, but the entrance to the parking lot is on Caifornia Avenue. If you are using a map program to get driving directions, you may get better results if you enter 225 E. California Avenue, as that would be a plausible address for a building, if there were one, at the location of the driveway.

From US 101 or CA 237: Take the Mathilda Avenue exit and go south (from 101 southbound turn right, from 101 northbound or 237 westbound turn left) on Mathilda; go a bit more than a mile and turn left on California Avenue...

From El Camino Real: In downtown Sunnyvale turn north onto Mathilda (left if you are coming from the west/north, right if you are coming from the east); go through downtown and over the railroad (about one mile total from El Camino) and turn right onto California Avenue...

... then: after about 1/3 mile on California Avenue, just after the intersection with Sunnyvale Avenue, the parking lot entrance will be on your left.

From Palo Alto or Mountain View via Central Expressway: Take the exit for Mathilda Avenue North (just after you go under Mathilda Avenue itself), but at the end of the ramp turn left (rather than right, which is what the sign will indicate for Mathilda); you will be on California Avenue, and the park will be on your left after about 1/4 mile, just after the intersection with Sunnyvale Avenue.

Parking: There is fairly large, loop-shaped parking lot. From the entrance, turn right and go around the loop and park in any space that is not marked as somehow restricted. There is a lawn bowling area immediately adjacent to the parking lot, and the building where we dance is on the other side of that – take the path on either side of the lawn bowling area to get to the building.

Las Palmas Park

850 Russet Drive, Sunnyvale [GOOGLE]

From US 101 or CA 237: Take the Mathilda Avenue exit and go south (from 101 southbound turn right, from 101 northbound or 237 westbound turn left) on Mathilda; at the first traffic light after the Caltrain overpass (about 1.7 miles from 101, about 1.9 miles from 237), turn right onto W. Washington Avenue, then left at the first traffic light onto S. Pastoria Avenue; crossing El Camino, Pastoria will become Hollenbeck Avenue; after 1/4 mile on Hollenbeck turn left onto Danforth Drive...

From CA 85 North: Exit at Fremont Avenue, turn right (east), go about 1 mile and turn left at Hollenbeck Avenue, then about 3/4 mile and turn right onto Danforth Drive...

From El Camino Real: Turn south on Hollenbeck Avenue and go about 1/4 mile, turn left onto Danforth Avenue...

... then: Danforth curves sharply right, becoming Russet Drive, and the park will be on your left; the first left (after the park building) will be the entrance to the parking lot.

Parking: There is a parking lot, but it is often full. You can park along the street in front of the houses, except where indicated by signs.

St. Andrews Church

4111 Alma Street, Palo Alto [GOOGLE] [MAPQUEST] [YAHOO]

From US 101: Take the San Antonio Road exit, head south on San Antonio about one mile, look for turnoff/fork to the right with sign for Alma; go about 1/4 mile more on that then turn right on Alma; after about 1/3 mile the church will be on your right.

From El Camino Real: Take San Antonio Road north/east (toward bay) about 1/2 mile to Alma / Central Expressway overpass; exit right onto ramp for Alma going west/north (same road in the other direction is Central Expressway); after about 1/2 mile the church will be on your right.

Parking: There is a parking lot near the front of the church.

Mountain View Community Center

201 S. Rengstorff Avenue, Mountain View [GOOGLE]

From US 101:Take the Rengstorff Avenue exit, head south about 1.3 miles; the Community Center will be on your left after crossing Central Expressway and the railroad tracks.

From CA-85 North:Take the El Camino Real exit (north/west, toward Mountain View) and go about 2 miles to Rengstorff (on the right), then ...

From El Camino Real: Turn at Rengstorff Avenue (at the corner with a Five Guys), head north about 1/3 mile; the Community Center will be on your right, just before the railroad tracks.

Parking:After entering the grounds via the driveway from Rengstoff, you will find a parking lot to the right, in front of the building.

Enter the building through the doorway facing Rengstorff closest to this parking lot. (There is another entrance at the left end of the building, but that end is currently being used as a vaccination site and has white tents in front of it.) There are three rooms in which we might be dancing -- which one we are using a particular week will be indicated on the calendar. The Maple and Magnolia rooms are on the entrance level; the Oak room is downstairs. See also Additional Directions and Photos
